Fountains in the form of statues, symbolizing the Triumph of Concord and of the Republic, flank this monument (1894 - 1902). It is crowned by a statue of Liberty breaking free of her shackles. A most impressive monument in Bordeaux. I loved the horses in the fountains - they had water blasting out of their nostrils!
