Dear Friends, Well, as you can see, I'm still here.This is me frolicing in the garden. I can really move along very well now, though I do enjoy lounging on my afghans on the porch. I have been visiting a very handsome young rottweiler named Max across the way. Max is a bit younger than me and is on a leash that lets him run but not leave his yard. So I have to visit him. And every time I see a dog being walked by it's guardian near my yard, I do run out to greet them both. We dogs are pack animals and like each other's company. If we were humans, you would always see us joining the Rotary Club or the Kiwanis. My own guardian calls me back when I leave the yard if she sees me. but most of my dog aquaintances seem to enjoy the meet-and-greet. I do take my job of guarding the house and yard very seriously. You won't see those pesky squirrels hanging around here any more as long as I'm in charge. And no skunks will overturn the garbage cans and tear the bags apart on Tuesday nights like they used to! The other day I killed a pigeon (Was this wrong? I don't know the morality of this.) I won't admit it, of course, and I don't think anyone saw me do it, but when we were out in yard, my guardian noticed the pigeon in one place (pretty much intact) and a flurry of feathers in another. Anyway, my guardian continues to try to find me a suitable home. One with a family of people to keep me company and a fence so that I can still be free range but not get into trouble. My guardian's yard is only partially fenced and is on a big corner lot. So she contacted Denise of the Tracy Hope Rescue, who is sending out feelers. All of this "placement" activity is kind of like a cross between applying to Harvard and finding a match on All About Singles. Denise says that some people pretend they are pet lovers but are actually in the dog fight business (like Michael Vick used to be) so they need to give my guardian their names and the name of their vet and Denise will screen them. I have also been helping my guardian do some yard work these past few days. She has planted some pretty mums and pansies, and yesterday she put a scarecrow in her front yard. (Hey, don't I scare the birds away?) Enjoy this beautiful fall weather! Your friend, Missy
